Me Too!  I have the problem only when I print with best quality on photo paper.  It stops about 1/4 through printing. 

I found something on this website earlier today that completely explained how to fix it with pictures of "tape" running behind the cartridges.  I didn't have time to read it and didn't think it would be that difficult to find later.  Can't explain it, but can't find it now no matter what I do.    

I have to say that the documentation on "Hardware Errors" for this machine is poor to say the least.  Previously I had a 0503 error.  I couldn't find any answers in the literature and after 3 days of calling and going through at least 3 different departments, I received an answer.  I was livid at the waste of my time, but relieved to find an answer.  I can't believe I am having another problem like that! 

I notice that your post was several days ago.  Have you found a solution yet? 

yes . the plastic strip kept coming off track so dell replaced the printer with another but it was not a new printer was a printer that they had fixed.

I am having the same problem.  Prints 1 maybe 1 1/2 pages, stops & gives the 0502 error code.  It started doing it when my ink was running low.  I replaced the ink cartridge & it still tells me I am low on black ink.  What gives with this printer?  And if I have to send it back, who pays the shipping?
