It appears that the printer is unable to communicate properly. Try updating the firmware wirelessly from this link: http://dell.to/Ra05uN.
If it does not help, you can try to uninstall and re-install the printer. To uninstall it, click Start button >> click 'All Programs' >> Locate 'Dell Printers' >> Select your printer and uninstall it.
Reboot PC and disconnect the USB cable from the printer as well as the computer. Re-install the printer driver from this link: http://dell.to/RLyYZf. Note: If you want to install the printer wirelessly, do not connect the USB cable until the printer is installed. If you want to connect the printer via USB cable, connect the USB cable only when prompted and try to update the firmware when the printer is installed.
