I found this documentation, since we don't know how you're connecting the printer.

Most printers, if you use this basic setup, do work. I have three laptops, using a wireless print server, connected to my AIO Printer. I installed all the drivers in each laptop so no computer needs to be on to print.
Below is what I used and it works great, good luck.
How are you connected to the printer? wired of wireless?
If wired, disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/Dell printers and un-install your printer.
Install your printer. You'll be prompted when to connect it.
If wireless, fix your network first.
Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.
Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)
Use WPA security
After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.
If wireless printer server is used, Plug USB cable into computer and print server. Insert the print server disk. Choose Network, then choose print server and follow the instructions.
The 3100cn does not have any built-in wireless options available. However, it does have a built-in network port (wired, NOT wireless). Just connect a network cable from the printer to a spare network port on your Router/Wireless Access Point. If your router is configured in DHCP(*) mode, it should provide the printer with an IP address. Use that address when you install the drivers on each of your clients in "Network" mode (you'll be asked Local or Network during driver installation)
*If your router is not providing IP addresses, you may be on a static network. In that case, you will need to use the 3100cn owners manual for instructions on how to manually configure an IP address on the printer.
