noiprocs,

Try this procedure and tell me what happens. What is the make and model of your computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit? Operating system in English?

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Dear rick,

It is allways the same,

I followed all the instructions

1 folder with the print job is clear

I disconected the printer, I run cleanup, the pc started again,

I checked, the dell a940 is removed,

I started Install the vista drivers in compatibility mode...

( i did this many times, with installation as administrateur, in compatibility, ...)

But at the end,  the a940 is there but one driver is not present.....

I really don't understand what is happend ?

Do you have an idee ?

Many thanks for your support.

Guy

noiprocs,

Go to

C:\dell\drivers

Look for the folder with the number for the printer.

Look in that folder for setup.exe and right click on it. Then left click properties. Click on compatibility mode. You should see...

Click on run this program in the Vista SP2 compatibility mode.

Right click on setup, them left click run as administrator

Guy,

So your operating system is in French, correct? I looked around and cannot find French 64-bit drivers for this printer, so we're going to trick your computer into thinking you have French drivers.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You may or may not get a message to connect the printer.

Hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time. Type...

C:\Program Files\Dell A940\Drivers

You should see an English folder there. Right click, new, create folder. Name the new folder French. Copy all the files in the English folder and paste them to the French folder.

Double click on the Vista 64-bit drivers and install again. There should be a message, then printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on.

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Dell A940 All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

The printer will work in English instead of French
