installing wireless adaptor for V305 dell printer--having trouble
My printer is 4 years old. I purchased the adaptor Dell 1150 model LEX-m01-001 which Dell Sales told me was the correct adaptor for V305. I used printer installation disk that came with my Dell computer/printer. When I turn on printer the screen says "wireless adaptor detected". The installation/setup step ask me if the wifi light on printer is blue, orange, or grey. There is no wifi light on my printer though. When I first turn printer on a WIFI logo light comes on that is pink/purple but only for a second. I have selected blue and orange on different attempts anyway. Both with same results. The installation stops saying it can't connect. (yes, I have usb cord connected). I attached a wire from router to the adaptor and when I tried to print a document, there was an odd printer listed (series of numbers and letters) and I took cord off and then tried to select that printer. It worked 3x! But then my laptop and other devices (nook reader) couldn't connect to the router. I reset router but still no connection. Waited until the next day to think on it, and then it would not print again. Then uninstalled the printer altogether. When I tried to reinstall from disk I got error messages saying the driver was against my policy settings...don't know what that means. But now I had no use of printer at all. I had a backup of my computer from the previous day and ended up restoring my computer to the previous day before I had uninstalled the printer. So now I can print with cord, but still can't install this wireless adapter. I have one week...until next Monday before I can return it. Help!!

jkrourke,
On the printer, look in the maintenance section and see if there is a place to turn on/off the network adapter. Here are the instructions for a different model, if may get you in the area to do this.

looked at instructions....when I go to Setup, Network. it says "Network Connection in Progess.....". Maybe that's the problem...it's stuck. But I have no idea how to fix that. That message has been on since the first time I checked the printer menu days ago. Even if unplugged and turned back on. Even if I removed the adaptor and put it back in.

jkrourke,
Unplug the printer from the wall. Then remove the power brick from the printer for 60 seconds. This resets any error messages the printer is getting. It should also allow the printer to look for the new hardware when you plug it back in and power on.
The printer will need to be uninstalled(programs and features) on the computer you're using. You will then need restart the computer and install the printer like it's a new printer. You'll select new installation, network and follow the instructions. It will prompt you to connect the printer(using the usb cable) powered on, then ask for your network SSID and password. Once this is setup, the printers Wifi light should show it's connected.

Thanks Rick. I tried that...still can't get rid of the ""network connection in progrss...." on printer menu though. As tomorrow is the last day I can return the wireless adaptor for a refund, I am giving up. Thanks for trying.

Julie,
Sorry you could not get it working. There must be something wrong with the adapter.
