M5200 makes knocking noise when printing envelopes.

Question

When printing envelopes, the printer makes 3 or 4 knocking noises before the envelope comes out. Kind of annoying.

Yeah, that sound is normal. There is a device in there that smacks the envelope a few times to get all the air out of it, so that it doesn't get torn up when it feeds. There supposedly is a way to disable it, but i haven't tried it. In the Onboard LCD Menu, go to the PAPER MENU and disable ENVELOPE ENHANCE. That is supposed to turn it off. Give it a try.
