Memory & print spooler errors (repost due to text problem)
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
I've had a problem printing to my Dell Laser MFP 1815DN from my new Dell XPS M1330 laptop running 64-bit Vista Home Premium. I don't have the problem printing from any of the 6 other XP machines in the network.
When I print from the laptop, I get what appear to be memory errors on the printer. If I'm connected to the printer over Ethernet, I get this error on the printer's LCD screen:
Internal Error
Power On/Off
(The second line of the error message changes. Here are two examples of what that reads:)
40a9ae44 3T 915 Rip
Ff e00fc 2T 932 Rip
If I'm connected directly to the laptop vis USB, the error changes. Now it reads:
Internal Error
Power On/Off
Psched_Main.c
2153 EM
In both cases, the printer immediately goes OFFLINE on the laptop. When I say Offline, I don't mean that I can simply go into the dropdown menu and change it back to Online -- I mean that it goes offline and I can't get it back online. I have to delete it and reinstall it.
Does anyone know why this happens and how to stop it? I simply cannot print to my Dell printer from the Dell laptop.
When I first purchased the laptop, I talked at length to the support team for laptops.....they say this is a printer problem and not related. I don't know, since I also have another problem with the printer. The print spooler keeps cutting out and I can't print at all. I think that is due to a faulty HP driver -- I'm testing that now by simply disconnecting all HP printers and uninstalling them and seeing if the spooler goes out again.
Thanks.
Stephen

First...... WHAT IS all the stuff at the top of your post?
Did you download all the latest Drivers/ Firmware/Patches to support Vista (for the 1815dn) from support.dell.com?
The 1815dn was released well before Vista. If you just used the CD (that came with the 1815dn) to install on your Vista system, you'll likely have problems.
Also, a little confused..... you mention HP drivers/printers in your post. Which is it? HP or 1815dn?

Spooler problem is solved. I dumped the DELL printer (attached it to an XP machine). I dumped the HP printer (attached that to a different XP machine). I purchased a Canon imageCLASS MF4370dn printer, put that on my network, and now all is good. Seems to be a driver problem, as I suspected. For anyone else having this problem with HP and Dell printers, the answer is simple -- get a Canon. I also connected a Canon inkjet printer to the laptop and all was good. Thanks for helping out.
