MFP 1815dn network scanning setup for Linux host

We just purchased this printer and it works well from both Mac and Windows systems.

However, the Linux install failed to finish correctly, as it could not find the printer on the network.

I have successfully manually configured CUPS for this printer. 

I'm not familiar enough with SANE or with FAX software on Linux systems to know what they need in the way of a network address and/or port, or if there is a "device" name for the scanner or FAX that needs to be used.

Any relevant information would be appreciated.
