Missing File "DL_Dashboard.exe"

When setting up my new system I installed a V313W printer. The setup disk placed a short cut called “Dell Printer Home”. When I click on the Icon a message says “looking for DL_Dashboard.exe” but can’t find it. Is something missing?

I started this process, which seemed to get me further than before, HOWEVER....I am missing the config.xml file (on the disc - it's not in the folder)!

What to do now??

You may not need it. For me the dashboard program seems to run without it.

Tried this and it still does not work. I do get the Dell Printer Home now but nothing works, the button for documents is dim and states "install OCR from CD to enable" . Printing and copying is fine but I have to use Adobe fine reader to scan.

Well, either I need it, or the copy/pasting files solution just doesn't work, because it still does not work for me. However, instead of saying "shortcut not found" or whatever it brings up a page that says the .xml file is not found. Hence, I believe I need it. Is there a reason it wouldn't be on the disc? That is very curious to me.

dennis_kethan,

I can help you install the printer, but it will not have the OCR Program, needed to scan and fax.

If you give me the make and model of your computer and operating system. 33-bit or 64-bit?

How is the V313w Wireless Printer connected to your computer, usb cable or wireless?

Virus program and firewall you're using.

Rick

I have an Inspiron 1420 Dell Laptop.

I'm currently using Windows Vista

I'm trying to setup wirelessly.  I can print using USB cable but not wirelessly.

I have two other user for the printer and they connect wirerlessly.

The network was working fine until I secured my wireless router.  I have bee racking my brain trying to figure this out.

I had already downloaded the drivers and firmware.

Rick,

I have a Netgear Range Max N router.  I'm using WPA2 security setting.  No specific channel id.

dennis_kethan,

Make and model of your wireless router. What type of security are you using? What channel?

dennis_kethan,

A doul band, correct.

Make a new SSID, maybe something like dennis_kethan_G and use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11.

You'll also need to make a Wireless N SSIS something like dennis_kethan_N that way you know which connection you're connecting to.

After you have the router settings corrected, then...

Download the proper Vista drivers from Dell V313 All-In-One Printer owners thread

Install the drivers, choose network, then choose new installation and follow the instructions. It should prompt you to connect the printer with the USB cable, then ask to find your network and the password. It has to connect to the wireless G band that has WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal)

Once the printer finds and connects to the network, the printer installation will continue to finish installing.

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.
