lexbce is available in XP.. and not in vista

what do u have??? i think its vista [lexbce wont be there in it]

tell the printer model that u have.. some old printers have dell solution center instead of the conventional all in one center.

also ... scanning need not be done from all in 1 center necessarily..

u can scan from MS Paint..and other similar programs [ look for option in programs that sound like "get pictures from scanner or camera "

Thank you--I have Vista and just got it this past weekend.

I have a Dell A960 AIO

I will check the Paint program the next time I scan from printer to computer.  Thanks so much for your help.  I have no clue as to what other program to use as I've only ever used AIO.

sure...
if u have A960 and if u have installed drivers correctly, then u must be seeing the dell all in one center come up after installing the drivers correctly.. it will also be present in "all programs" of vista..

look for other options to scan and tell me if all in one solution center is opening correctly or not [ that is, after u have installed drivers completely]

Apparently I didn't install them correctly then because I'm getting
this error message when I click on AIO (although I am able to print from the internet):

dlbfaiox.exe - Entry Point not Found

The procedure entry point ? GetxProductxPrefixx@LxkProductx@@SA?AVCStringx@@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library dlbfutil.dil

I just tried scanning using Paint and it says Unable to retrieve image from device.  Verify the device is properly connected (in which I know it is because it prints) and try again.

I put some extra digits in the link...but you get the idea.  Thanks again for your help.

u need to uninstall and reinstall the software... that shud do

for uninstalling any previous traces of drivers

support.dell.com

drivers and downloads link

enter service tag for printer

make sure vista is selected as operating system

download 2 files
1. dell patch/upgrade [this is to remove all previous traces of drivers --it will ask u to disconnect USb cable from printer, which u must do and it will also restart the computer once its done ]

2. dell driver - this is for ur printer [vista drivers, that is] u need to download and install printer using this...make sure that USB CABLE IS DISCONNECTED before starting the installation, during installation it asks u to connect USB cable which u shud do...........ignore any prompts from vista when u connect the USB cable[e.g. =found new hardware, install drivers automatically, etc. ]----let the dell file do its thing and hopefully u shudnt see the same error dlbfaiox.exe point not found.........

do reply here as to what happened.thanks!

I thought I had already downloaded the patch and the dell driver....but I'm willing to do anything at this point.  Originally, I had uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers from my old cd.  Then I did these upgrades on Dell's site.  Neither one of these opened my AIO.

Sooooo, I just now followed your directions and downloaded the patch/upgrade---and it doesn't automatically open and ask me to disconnect the USB---when I click on open for the upgrade it is asking me to extract files and where do I want to save these files at??  So I just hit save for the default--which was R166242 and nothing happened.  Am I supposed to save them somewhere else?

I don't know what to do next?  or did I do something wrong with that step?

u did everything correctly..but havent actually reached at the beginning og the installation itself.. the locatio to whic it extracted the files will contain the folder with the same name R######.........just open that folder to find the "dell xp cleanup utility " .. run that application and it should ask you to disconnect the usb cable..follow the rest of the process to restart the computer and then install the drivers..........FYI - there is no such thing for installation like running the dell patch / upgrade...........so ............just follow the steps..and follow the info that the software suggests u to do and

pleas reply here if u r able to print, etc.or if u r getting that dlfbaiox.exe error mesage or not. thanks!

Thanks for responding back.

I did what you said and opened the program and ran it.  I kept the cable disconnected and connected it when I was supposed to.

I am able to print still---but when I click the AIO to open, it's giving me a Runtime Error for the dlfbaiox and then a box pops up that says it's because of McAfee.  How can I correct this?

Thanks again for all of your help.

Ok I fudged my way through McAfee's help section and found how to find the Grant Access area.  When I went down the list, the AIO already had full access.  Everything on there was full access.

if its saying that it because of mcafee.....then do this

open mcafee...
go to firewall settings
go to program exceptions:

look for all in one center file application or any other application

,typically the filename for all in one center is AIOC.exe
check its status and make sure it has full access...if its not that...clik on the filename...below on the lower right of the mcafee screen..u see option which says "Grant Full Access"..clik on that to grant full access.

look for any other printer application files and make sure that all of them have full access.

if its saying that the runtime error for all in one center is because of mcafee , then this should do it.

please do reply as to what happened. thanks!

i will be online for the next hour.

in mcafee security cecnter

clik on home [ this is on the left ]

when u clik on it

on the right
u see a button called internet and network------clik on it.

in the next set of options... it might say something like " the following stuff is installed and configure on your computer " ------------------- ON THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER IN THAT SECTION --- " to change your options clik configure below "---look a word " configure " --- clik on it.

after cliking on configure.it takes us to a new page.

clik on the tab called 'firewall protection is enabled '
clik on "advanced"

then

on the left

clik on "program permissions"

this opens up the page in which all the applications aare listed which have been blocked or granted access on your computer.

check it out and do the rest of the stuff.

I opened McAfee Security Center---but don't see Firewall Settings....This is what I see:

Lockdown Firewall
Restore Firewall Defaults
View Recent Events
Manage Network
Maintain Computer

Or do I get to the settings a different way?

if it says that program no longer exists then it shouldn't harm anything.

try this also :

clik on start
run
type " services.msc"
hit enter

services window opens

clik on startup

look for that filename dlfbaiox.exe.....or any other printer application which has a checkmark beside it

make sure that no printer application has a checkmark / tick mark beside it...apply the settings and restart the computer.

one good thing is :" U R ABLE TO PRINT

now for the runtime error.

try restarting the computer and then try to print.

and try starting the all in one center again.

if u r getting the same runtime error message..

then check this link by microsoft.com -

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178385/en-us

this is about : Visual C++ Runtime Library Error Message When You Attempt to Print

As I'm looking at this list--there's a LEXPPS.EXE that is saying FULL ACCESS---should I delete program permission for this one?  (it says program no longer exists)...maybe it's trying to read that one?
No Events found!
