photo 964 help!!!

Question

Just bought a new Dell computer and installed my photo 964 and it doesn't work. It states that I need to install a printer when I try to print. It shows that it is installed on the computer. I am ready to throw it out the window. Can anyone help me??

How did you install the printer?  The correct procedure is to first install the software and ONLY when the install program tells you then phsycially connect the unit to the PC.  If you connect it first the install will either fail or Windows will install wrong drivers.    Have you tried a different USB cable?  and a different USB port?

I did everything like it told me to. I get an error message Runtime Error! this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusaual way. what ???? maybe my printer wont work with my new computer. It's a Dimension E 521? what do you think?

Please go through this procedure.   Removing XP drivers and LEXBCE from Vista (for the 720, A920, 922, A940, 942, A960, 962, 964 and 966 printers)

i have the  same problem with my E520. doesnt recognize the printer. tried newvista software, different usb cable, different port,  and had a dell tech thru 'dell connect' tried to fix it. no luck so far.

finally got a dell tech who knew what he was doing. he uninstalled and reinstalled all my usb ports. now my printer works fine
