I'm running windows XP, it dumped my dell A940 print driver, when I try to reinstall it goes through the steps then says print spooler is turned off. It then askes if I would like to turn it on and finish install, I say yes and then nothing. Can someone please tell me how to turn the print spooler back on.

Hello,
I looked for (system configuration utility), it was not in msconfig. Checked in administrator files, not there either, nor would any of the systems start, LexBce, RPC, Print spooler. I manualy start all systems and they will not. I check system and it comes up with (RPC server not started) checked both listed in admin and start both. still nothing.
Still lost in space.

nottij,
Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.
To have the print spooler service start automatically Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
Double-click the Printer Spooler service, and then change the startup type to Automatic. This sets the Spooler service to start automatically when you restart the computer. If you want to start the spooler immediately, click the Start button under the Service Status field.
Respectfully,

I've tried all of the suggestions and nothing worked. I went so far as to reinstall windows XP and even that did not help. I got the printer for my kodak camara and a fax but it still will not accept A940 printer driver. When I boot up it will find new hard ware and ask for the install, when I run the driver on CD it says that the driver is not on the CD. When I run it from the factory download, same thing. It still says that the print spooler needs to be started. I 've gone through all of the dependent programs and made sure that they were running and still nothing. I wonder if the programs in the admin section got changed somehow? Is there a way to check this against a list of what the settings should be? If there is where can I get the list?
Oh well, a 20lb sledge should fix it! I am considering on reformating the hard drive and reinstalling everything. as much as I would hate to have to do that.
