Print Spooler using up all memory 99% cpu usage

I am having a problem with the print spooler using up all the CPU memory. The computer runs slow and can not do anything. I disable the spooler and it works ok, I have to go into safe mode to disable then restart, everything works ok. I have disconnected my HP1200 printer and then uninstalled. Everytime I set the spooler to manual or automatic, during restart under normal windows it instantly runs the spooler at 99 percent. I tried printing (not networked) from another computer about the time this all happened. Can not get it to stop any suggestions? Thank You,
Herm

I think it originated at the time I tried to print from my other computer through this one, I always was able to with my old HP, bought a compaq and it would not print. Did not know that the driver from the printer had to be run. Thought I had it and sent a test print and then a word document and it never printed. I have tried a lot of things to straighten this out and have been unsucsessfull,
Thanks,
Herm

HHSauce,

Did you goto Control Panel and then Printers and Faxes and checked for any pending jobs. If you do find any cancel them.

Uninstall and reinstall the printer. That is goto Safe Mode, In safe mode login as Administrator and then goto local disk ( C ) ----> Windows ----> System32.

You will be able to find Spool folder. Right Click on the Spool folder and delete it and then restart the computer.

Now goto start--->run--->services.msc and then click ok.

Now click on Print Spooler, put it on automatic and then click on apply and then start the service and click ok. Go ahead and install the drivers for the printer and try to check if it is working or not.
