Printer can't be made default in Office 2003

Question

My computer crashed and was rebuilt.  Still running XP2, now Office will not recognize my 720 inkjet as a default printer and in some cases I am only given a choice of MS Image Writer.

Was the printer 'installed' after the crash?  Did you run the install program for the unit?  If not, that is your problem.   You need to run the printer install program, with the printer disconnected from the PC, and ONLY when the install program tells you, connect the printer to the PC.

FireBerd, Problem is I can not find the CD. I only have the driver. I had the printer now about 2 years. I was quite happy with it. The skew problem (separate forum memo) AND the problem with Office 2003 is making me consider a possible replacement. Does Dell, in some obscure corner, supply install software?
