Printer installation error
I have a Dell Photo926 printer I am trying to install on a Win7 (32bit) machine. I have downloaded the current driver for this OS, but the only function that installs is the scanner (it does scan properly); however, the error message indicates that printer driver cannot be found, altho I downloaded and installed R146832 driver module. What am I missing here?

Hi hwm444,
You may try to download and re-install the driver again. First uninstall the driver from Control Panel. You can download
This package contains Dell All-In-One Printer 926 drivers for Windows XP 32-bit and Vista 32-bit. Once downloaded and executed the driver will install automatically and guide the user through the setup process.
Windows Vista 32-bit
Windows 2000
Windows XP
If the issue persists, please reply with the exact error message. Share a screenshot if possible.
Please reply if you have any questions.

Actually, I have done it 3 times - error message was "driver not found". river was posted to User/Dell/driver/R146832. Something must have been found for the scanneer to work but the printer not to work.

hwm444,
Please continue with DELL-Appu S
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Remember virus programs and firewalls will blcok communications.

Well, I have made progress. I installed windows driver manager and used that to update the printer driver. I then printed a test page OK. But then I must have looked at it wrong, touched something, because the next try I was unable to either print or detete the new job in the queue so I rebooted. Well, that caused the print function to fail. Printer is shown in control panel as OK, new driver installed, etc. However,, when I send something to the printer it never shows up - ie no print jobs in the queue. I checked the print spooler - ok; I tried to print with several different applications (notepad, etc) - no dice. So device manager shows proper driver and indicaes that device is working properly. But the problem now is that the print request never reaches my printer.

hwm444,
Run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Restart your computer.
Open the document you want to print.
Click on File, print and make sure the proper printer is selected. You may have to do this for other programs until the program knows what printer to send the print job to.

Hi hwm444,
If you have tried all the steps suggested by RockSt☆r-Rick K, you may want to try this printer with a different computer or try changing the USB cable. If the issue persists, it may point towards a hardware issue.
@RockSt☆r-Rick K, Thank you for your inputs;appreciate it.

Error message on WQordPad attempt shows "er progress is being made. Printer shows installed correctly (green check in Control Panel) and with updated driver.
Have tried printing using three different applications - none activate the printer or show up on the printer list as pending. WordPad error message states "could not start printing". Spooler is set to automatic and "started". Win7 troubleshooting routing finds nothing wrong. What am I missing?
