Printer is unavailable randomly from random machines

Greetings,

I have a few users who can not print to the Dell 5200N network printer.  Everyone and a while in Excel or whatever they try to print and there is a message saying the print driver is not installed.  Then a random dialog box shows up with all the installed printer (even the Dell printer) and gives Setup, OK and Cancel buttons.  None of them seem to work.  Sometimes if the person reboots the problem goes away for a little while.  There are 30 people using this printer and only 3 people have this issue.  They are running both Win2000 and XP.

Anyone else having randon printer issues such as this?

Thanks

I was having a similar problem.  One of our t5200n printers has a print queue residing on a Windows 2000 server.  When my users would try and print Excel spreadsheets or any other complex job, the printer would either drop off the face of the earth, or act like it was printing, and then NOTHING would print.  No errors, no prints.

I was able to resolve ALL of our network printing problems by installing a TCP/IP network port for the 5200 except using the Lexmark Network Support for Windows 2000.  This added an option to install a Lexmark port to the print server and enable bi-directional support.

The Lexmark port setup utility is available at:
