Are you getting any type of error? Was your system upgraded from XP to Vista? Did you have your printer directly connected to your computer when installing? What USB port are you using one in the front? If in the front please try one in the back. How long is the USB cable you are using? If more than 6 feet try a shorter cable.
I am not getting an error, the computer is new, it came with vista 32 on it. The drivers installed fine, I printed an alignment page and a test page with no problem. When I attempted to print an email with 3 three pages the the printer message said it was printing three pages but ended normally with no errors afer the first page. This has every time I try to pring multiple page emailis.
I am having trouble getting the driver to work also.
I have a fresh insall of Vista Home Premium. I get the following error: "Communication not available." Oddly enough, I can scan documents without error.
I have checked the firewall to ensure it is allowing the printer program to communicate. Very odd.
I get the same connection problem. My printer is close to my computer but it does not seem to want to communicate to print. Scanning is no problem. If it scans why can't it print. Sound like Dell still has a problem with this printer.
I agree. I have continued to try to troubleshoot this problem to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have verified my USB cords are fine (and short enough as this is apparently a possible problem??). This may be a lingering driver issue.
Everyone go to the post from Gina about the communication error, but if your like me you've already done that. Go the the thread that she mentions and follow it down about deleting the windows/system32/spool/drivers/w32x86 and reinstall.
Actually I am having problems with all my documents again. Gina, you said the final version of the drivers would be out this week. Have the drivers beed updated?
Firmware
R98804 - This firmware was released back in 2005. You may want to check and verify that you have the right firmware version before you load the driver. These are the specifics on the firmware - Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 962, Firmware, English, Printer Photo All-in-One Printer 962, v.163_115_02, A04.
If you choose to do the firmware update be sure you DO NOT turn off the computer or the printer before it is completely finished. I suspect that if you've recently received you system this version of the firmware is already on the printer.
I bought the printer in December of 2004 so the firmware was needed. I have been trying to install the new drivers so that my printer works properly. I cannot print multiple pages, actually I was able to print a ten page document but right after that I could not print a 17 page document. My cable is not too long, my computer is new, it came with Vista loaded. All of the suggestions I have seen are for people who have upgraded to vista. I have tried those fixes but they do not work. I really like this printer and want to continue to use it, please help me.
