Problem with Alignment, 962-POSSIBLE SOLUTION

After inserting a new black cartridge, the alignment page printed, then printer panel said: Problem with alignment page.  Black would print but no color, although the level indicator in the AIO Solutions said that 75% of the color ink remained. Although the black printed on the alignment page, I got blank pages when trying to print a document.  After searching through all of the forums, trying the unplug, remove block, etc. and removing and reinserting both cartridges several times, I had given up.  But THEN, I remembered the way I'd solved another frustrating printing problem.  I removed ALL the software associated with the printer, using Control Panel-Add/Remove programs and then deleted every folder associated with my printer from the computer, except the driver files, which are located in the bowels of the system and beyond my ken.  Having a clean slate at last, I reinstalled the software from the disk, skipping the "align cartridges" and "test printer" steps.  IT WORKED!  Worth a try, anyway!  SO glad I didn't waste $ on a tech call!
