Problem with Dell Laser 1700 and Windows 2000 Update

I have a computer running Windows XP Professional that I use as a print server printing to a Dell Laser 1700 printer on a peer to peer network in our office space.  The rest of the computers use Windows 2000.  I had no problems printing to the printer until I upgraded all the Windows 2000 machines with the lastest Windows update.  Now when I try and print (from any application) the application will quit and prompt an error report to be sent to Microsoft.  I have tried to re-install the print drivers, but when I add a printer I get the message: The instruction at "0x00431b64' referenced memory at "0x00000000".  The memory could not be "read".  It sounds to me like there is a conflict with the driver for the printer and the Windows update.  Anybody know anything about this and if there is a fix.

Thanks.
Ben
