Problems installing HP Printer on my new DELL notebook
I have a HP LaserJet P2015d which always worked well. Now I tried to install it on my new DELL Vostro 1310, which is running under Vista. Various attempts to install the driver from the original CD Rom, and updated versions from the HP webpage were unsuccessfull. After installation, I always received the error message: "the extended attributes are inconsistent" (translation from German). Can anybody help me with a hint what the problem might be?
I was also looking for help in an HP forum and got the hint that the Vista Internet Explorer 8 Beta might be the problem and that I should de-install the update. However, I could not find any IE update in the list of updates.
Completely stuck, since I am living in Angola, and there is no-one around who has a clue about these problems. The lovely (:-) DELL software support service works with telephone calls, which I can't call from here.
So, thanks for any idea or help, Jutta

franzjutta,
Disconnect the printer. Un-install the printer.
Restart the computer.
Now go to Windows updates and make sure to get the custom updates, especially .net framework. Also get the latest Java.
Now go th HP's website and download the proper drivers for the HP LaserJet P2015.
Install the proper drivers, you'll be prompted when to connect the printer(powered on)
