I know.  I have another post on another piece of this forum.  I was advised to NOT re-install SP2 but wait for info on new Lexmark drivers.

I started off with a dead Norton anti-virus.  I am having trouble remembering the sequence of events.  I had stopped in the middle of installing SP2 (unknowingly - due to Dell's - not Microsoft's - instructions about 'preinstallation help).  This caused the need to (with an Indian's help) to restore back to an earlier XP version.  But then I installed SP2 again, and then re-installed Norton (I wasted the first version, thinking the problem was with Norton - who never would answer any phones or give any inteligible help at the 'Award-Winning Site'.  Things seem to be going along swimmingly until the printer was discovered to be dead.   Now I have a working printer and a re-re-installed Norton and things seem fine again.  But no SP2.  Hope you can make sense of the above.

There are known problems with Norton and Lexmark (Dell) printers and I am still waiting for an answer from Dell who recommend Norton.
