1815 does have a backlight and if I recall correctly it is a darn good one. I would want you to check with tech support though to be sure it would meet your needs.

Dell has a great chat support group for printers, just pop in quickly and advise the agent you would like to ask a super quick question. They will do that for you with little hassle.

As long it has a backlit screen like on the Dell 3100, I should be able to make it out. The 1600 has no backlight on it and I just can't see it at all.

Thanks again

So Area_51 you win the battle. I just got off with Dell Sales and I was told... the 1815 does not have a backlight to the menu.

So I am back to square 1????????

That's funny, I was just told by two different sales reps independently that yes, the 1815dn lcd display does have backlighting!  Sounds like Dell has no clue.

LOL.... I guess the only way is to ask anyone out there who has a 1815 prontewr........... Does it or does it not have a backlight display on the screen....

I guess the worse case will be, I will probably order one just to "see" for myself.

A very simple question has turned into a debate..LOL

Will the real answer please stand up:)

Thanks
Al

Thanks for the reply. Lexmark makes a model that is similar to the 1815 but it also does color as well. That might be the thing for me. Now..... I will have to go to Office Depor and see it first hand as if there is a backlit screen to it.

Thanks
