Replace Black Toner 093-933 error on Dell 3000CN Printer
I recently received a Replace Black Toner 093-933 error on my Dell 3000CN Printer. I replaced the cartiridge with an older cartridge that was still not empty (I replaced it before it ran out the last time). It still came up with the same error. I then bought a new cartridge and replaced the cartridge and it still comes up with the same error. One interesting feature is that after replacing the cartridge it goes into calibration mode for about 4 minutes -- During that time their is a clicking sound on the left side of the printer. At the end of calibration it returns the "replace black toner" error.
I have turned the whole printer off and on several times with no suceess.
Any ideas?

I tried the non-Dell toner setting and turned it on and off again. Still get the same replace toner error.
Thanks for the idea.

I tried your suggestion to no avail.
I also went and bought a brand new Dell OEM black cartridge and still get the same error.
(BTW, I am using the Vista OS and loaded the firmware for this OS about a year ago -- hopefully this is totally unrelated to this problem)
Any suggestions on what to try or who to call next?

Thanks for the input.
I ended up calling Dell Laser Printer support and they talked me through the proceess.
1) turn off the printer, hold the up and down arrows while turning on the printer to get it into "cusoptmer mode"
2) scroll down to "parameter" and then scroll down to "life K". The value read 2400 whcih the technician said was way to high for a new cartridge. He concluded that the printer was interpretting this measurment as the cartridge being expended. He pretty much told me that he would not be able to pinpoint the problem on the phone but he did mention the MCU (machine control unit) as a possibility.
At this point I am giving up on the printer since I don't think I will be able to fix it without buying parts and getting a Dell technician to come to my house. (A pretty sad tale for a laser printer that only lasted 6100 pages)
The most important thing I gained from this experience was the phone number of the Dell Laser Printer support office in Oklahoma -- 877-459-7298 -- they were very helpful!
