Scanning to SMB on the 2145cn printer (Error message: network error)
I'm not able to setup the 2145cn to scan to a folder on server using the SMB protocol. Whenever I try to scan, I get the error message "network error".
Here's my configuration:
Share on Windows 2008 server:
\\server\scanner
User: "myuser" (mydomain\myuser)
Passwort: "1234"
Domain: "mydomain.local"
IP of server: 10.10.10.10
The basic network connectivity (IP level) between the printer and the server is working. I can print any file from the server to the printer.
I did check as well the access rights of the account to be used to the share on the server (the account has full (read/write) access on the share)
The setup on the 2145cn is as follows (SMB-Setup -> Server list):
Alias for setup: "MyScanner"
IP Address or Host Name: "IP Address"
SMB server address and port: 10.10.10.10 port: 139
Share name: "scanner"
User Account:
User name: "myuser"
User password: "1234"
User domain: "mydomain"
Scan file folder:
Scan file name: "scan"
Filling method: "overwrite"
As mentioned whenever I try to scan to the SMB folder I get the error message "network error".
Have to say, after one day of searching for any issue I'm at the end ...
Has anybody of you folks out there been able to successfully scan to a SMB share?
Would you be willing to share the configuration with me? I do would highly appreciate any help ...

Has there been any solution to this? I'm experiencing the same issue. I've already updated to the latest firmware, still experiencing the issue quite frequently.

Hi dub_z3ro
there is a bug in printer software web form and/or storing settings engine. Firmware updates didn;t help.
I've spent hours finding reason.
Have a look in this Samba Linux log in verbouse mode for user "pawel" and domain "uni":
[2014/04/04 14:45:03, 5] auth/auth_util.c:make_user_info_map(178)
make_user_info_map: Mapping user [un]\[pawe] from workstation [DEL00159947FDA]
For some reasons last letter is missing in both fields....
Solution for this: add double last letter ex. pawell in my case. That;s it.
