Hello FENGELS,

Please review the following.

From the EWS:

  1. Click on E-mail Server Settings Overview on the left
  • Primary SMTP Gateway: smtp.gmail.com
  • SMTP Port Number: 465
  • E-Mail Send Authentication: SMTP AUTH (AUTO)
  • SMTP login user: gmail account
  • SMTP Password: password for gmail account above
  • Reply Address: Valid rely address
  • Click on Apply New Settings at the bottom
  • Click on Printer Server Settings on the left
  • Click on Security Tab
  • Click on SSL/TLS LinK
  • SMTP - SSL/TLS Communication = SSL/TLS
  • Apply New Settings

Regards,

Joseph E

Hi Joseph,

i tried your settings with my new Dell E525w and this works only if I enable access for less secure apps in my google/gmail account settings - any idea about the cause for this behaviour or on how to fix this (maybe use another certificate instead of the default/installed one)?

kind regards,

Markus

Under Dell C2665dnf's  User Guide, there is a section illustrating on how to setup Scan to email with Gmail . It is in a Cook book way, just follow the steps religiously. it will work !

Alternatively, why dont you use the Dell Document Hub- email me function..no complicated SMTP to deal with.

Thank you!  Joseph's instructions worked for me!  The key was selecting the correct Security SSL/TLS setting as "SSL/TLS".  Also, make sure to use the correct port number (465) and not the 587 one.

Hi.

I have two problems (so far!) in setting this up on a C1765NFW.

The first one is saving the settings after entering the details in the Email server settings window.  I've entered port 465, but when I apply it, I'm told:

Incorrect settings.

Please check the settings for following items.

E-Mail Server Settings:"SMTP Port Number".

Mt second problem is that I can't find any settings for SSL/TLS anywhere.  They aren't in the Security tab of Print Server Settings.  Am I running a different version of the software for this printer maybe?

Many thanks,

James

I'm a tech person - was very frustrated with the Gmail setup on this printer - and discovered that even after changing the ports and setting the correct setup in the printer configuration (which is correct based on other threads in this post), my pc wasn't set up to allow emails to complete.  If you're still struggling with the setup of Gmail on the C2665dnf printer, this document will help:

www.manualslib.com/.../Dell-2150cn.html

Start with the gpedit.msc (group policy changes) on the page this link takes you to (page 107) and continue making changes based on your operating system through the printer setup on page 112.

Hello Flowerland-K.

I apologize for the issue your facing regarding the Dell printer you have. Please understand that these forums are primarily user to user, with Dell acting mostly as a moderator and responding when we can. For immediate support needs we ask that you contact us directly at 1-800-901-3355 or at dell.com/chatsupport. If you are outside 30 days of purchase without a ProSupport contract, any advanced feature support will not be able to be offered.

Regarding your specific case if you were able to set the settings as recommended then you are likely looking an issue at your firewall/router in blocking the port. You should get an error code when the scan fails to go thru, what is that error?

Regards,

Joseph E

Hello,

I did attempt this and the printer said incorrect log-on. The password was correct and I then received a message from google that someone attempted to log on to my account. I did some further investigating and it stated I needed to turn off a security feature(allow less secure apps) on my google account. Is there an update or firmware update I need? I did all the steps as you have described.

Thanks

David

this problem affects other email client software as well . The problem is associated with OATH2 implementation. In summary, there is no solution on the printer end besides the work around  enabled by Google.

It is Google side decided to force on OAth 2.0 Specification. OAth 2 suddenly kicked in, Simple Printer does not use this heavy protocol .

the only way to get it to work is turning on the "allow less secure apps to work" , This saga affects Google Business App users as well. Have fun.

Hi Fengals. Ive done this before using google apps, but it wasn't an easy thing to do. Im not sure if you can do it via gmail as there were several things needed to be done on the domain dans to get it working via Google apps.

you made my day!

all hints found didn't help, none of my mailaccounts from different provider worked, at least gmail reported a possible hack attempt.

Enabling less secure apps worked immediately, the scan was sent as intended and finally after 4 days of trial and error I got a working setup.

btw. the reason I set this up was to forward recieved faxes to my mail, I won't let my computers run all day when not at home and so smb or ftp isn't really an option. On the other hand I can now recieve status reports from the printer.

Thanks a lot
