Setting Scan Quality Options for AIO 962 Printer

I'm trying to scan photos using my 962 printer, but I'm disappointed with the resolution and am having difficulty changing the settings via the 962 AIO Center software or the printer's operations console.  My Inspiron 6000 laptop, which runs WinXP Home, is connected to my 962 via a Dell wireless 3300 printer adapter, and I'm unable to select scan (or copy) options using the 962 AIO Center software.  Within the 'Scanning and Copying' tab, there's a message stating that I'm using my printer on a network, and directing me to use the printer's standalone functions. I'm unable to select the 'See More Scan Settings' option link within the AIO software.   While in 'Scan' mode, I pressed the 'Quality' button on the operations console to select a scan resolution of 600dpi, which was the highest available quality setting.  The results were not all that impressive.   Given that my  laptop is connected to my printer on a 'network,' is there another way to improve scan resolution?   Incidentally, I do have several other networked PCs, but only the laptop has been able to communicate with the AIO 962.  Seems ironic that not only can't I enjoy the benefits of a 'networked' printer, the fact that it's supposedly 'networked' prevents me from realizing all the functionality of my printer.  Surely the printer has a scan resolution higher than 600dpi?   Thanks in advance.       Alan

I don't have a solution for all your problems but I can tell you that you cannot scan using the All-In-One center program when using the wireless setup. Scanning is only available when using the printer control panel. I went around and around with Dell printer support for about a month on this until one of their techs pointed this out.
