They are on the screen for sure; I don't know about whether they are in the window on top of the printer too, since I have not looked at that area. When I proceed to print something, a window opens, and all of the information, commands, options are in French. Fortunately, I took French in High School, so it's not totally foreign to me, though it's more of a problem for the husband and son.

That's correct, the Op Panel is 'on top' of the printer.  Another question for you though, are the messages and screens that are showing up in French on the PC screen or on the printer itself?

I'm assuming that the Op panel is on the top of the printer. I will try it when I get home, and I'll write back on Monday if it does not work. Thanks for the information!!!!

From the front Op Panel of the 940:

1.  Press the 'options' button 14 times
2.  If the display listing says 'Francais' then you are set to French
3.  Find and select 'English' using the left and right arrows and press select

You should now have all dialogue presented to you in English.  Hope this helps!  Let us know if it doesn't...

Ahhh, ok.  Then in addition to the first steps I provided for you, you are probably going to need to re-install your print drivers as well.  It sounds like, for some reason, you have the French A940 drivers/printer software installed on your PC instead of the English version.  Do you still have the installation CD that was provided with your A940 printer?  If not, you can download the English only version here:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A940&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=4150&devlib=40&category=40&releaseid=R56532

You'll need to uninstall the A940 version that you are currently running by opening the PC's Control Panel, then selecting 'Add or Remove Programs'.  Find the listing for 'Dell Printer A940' and click 'Remove'.  While you are in the PC's Control Panel, you might also want to check your 'Regional and Language Options' to make sure they aren't set to 'France' or 'French'.  If they are, you will want to change those to reflect English/United States.  You can then re-install the A940 printer software using your CD that was provided with the printer, or with the download from the link I provided above.  Once again, hope this helps!
