 bobf112,

The desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers need to be installed first, or the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Install Drivers in Microsoft® Windows® on Dell Systems If you cannot find Windows 7 drivers, then use Vista(or XP) drivers and install them in the Compatibility mode

After you correct the drivers, make sure you have .net framework and Download Latest Java

Run Delete Print Jobs before trying to remove the printer in case there are stuck print jobs in the queue.

Disconnect the printer. Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers and install them in the Compatibility mode. You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at Dell 926 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

This is a Dell Dimension 8250 (ancient by todays standards)  and was upgraded to windows 7 32 bit.  It didn't want to work when it was first upgraded, but has worked for some time now and then quit again.  By reading these forums I was at least able to see what module failed.

 bobf112,

You gone and broke it, just kidding.

First, was the computer bought with Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) or was this computer upgraded?

Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful.

 bobf112,

Glad you got it working. :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back. I just wanted to give you all options with the drivers and the order to install them. I have found many people do not install the drivers in order and then the usb ports do not install properly.

Take care,

Rick
