"The I/O operation has been aborted" - printer install error message
I have a feeling this is more of a Windows problem than a printer problem, but I'll post it here in the hope that someone has had a similar issue.
A client has a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop running Windows XP Home, and a Dell Photo All-In-One 922 inkjet printer/scanner, which hasn't worked since he bought it almost two years ago. The printer was recognized by the computer, but for some reason all of the print jobs were getting stuck in the queue. I tried removing the printer, rebooting, and letting Windows recognize the printer and reinstall the drivers, but I was confronted with this error message:
"An error has occurred during the installation of the device.
The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or application request."
I also tried downloading the printer install package from the Dell site, but the same inability to print persisted, even though the printer was technically installed. Has anyone ever come across this problem?
