Toner question on 5100 cn

We do not want our users to be able to print color and the printers have already been deployed. It would be easier if we just let the color toners run out and just be able to print in black only. Is this possible? or will the printer shutdown due to no toner.

I know that these printers have a feature to setup and lock out users from printing in color. But like I said, the printers have already been deployed and were not setup to be admin'd from a web browser either.

Thanks...

no, once the printer runs out of a certain toner, it wont print any jobs until you replace *that* toner. Its a little...assinine, but thats the way they designed it. Ive read somewhere that there is a "non-dell toner mode" that makes it ignore toner levels, but when i asked dell about it they said it wasnt supported and also wouldnt tell you how much toner you have left...ever because it doesnt track anything at that point..

If its important enough, its worth a shot...
