Unable to resolve problem with new printer

I have bought 2 laptops, 6 desktops, and numerous other items from Dell without a problem. The last purchase was for a laptop and I got talked into adding a printer which was fine mine was on the way out. I recieved the printer and followed the idiot guide on how to install the printer. The process went well until I put the ink cartridges into the printer. All I get is a message ringing no cartridges detected. I wwent through the troubleshooting on the site, then went through it again with a Dell tech. The tech sent me a new printer head which I'm not sure I'm qualified to change or if it ruins my warranty but I tried to change it anyway. I started step 1 which was to hit the home key and proceed to settings. Hit home key warning screen still present, hit cancel home screen comes up, hit settings and warning screen back. I then sent back an email explaining the problem and my discomfort in performing surgery on my "new" printer. I just want to send in this defective printer and get one that works. I have stumbled around the website, been disconnected on the phone, and told we have bad reception and still have a giant paper weight in my office. This first request was on 10/18/2012 and the first of December is uopn us.

just return unit  under dells 21 day no quibble return policy......get your account credited and purchase a new one from another mfger... easiest way to reemedy your problem......maybe when dell gets  over run with returned defective, non functional  units they might reconsider outsourcing and  begin implementing better customer service and timely repairs by qualified tec

Rotumn,

May I ask, the make and model of your printer and how you're trying to connect it to your system?

Also can you please provide the virus program and firewall you're using?

Rick
