From what I read from the Dell™ V305 Printer User's Guide it states

Manual duplex allows you to print your document on both sides of the paper. The printer prints the odd-numbered pages of the document on the front sides of the paper. Reload the document with the blank side of the paper facing up, and print the even-numbered pages of the document on the back sides of the paper.

  1. Turn on your computer and printer, and ensure that they are connected.

  2. Load the paper. For more information, see Loading Paper into the Paper Support.

  3. With your document open, click File® Print.

  4. Click Preferences, Properties, Options, or Setup (depending on the program or operating system).

  5. Click the Advanced tab, and then select the 2-sided printing check box.

  6. Select how you want to bind your pages.

  7. After customizing your settings, click OK.

The Printing Preferences dialog box closes.

  8. Click OK or Print.

  9. When all the odd-numbered pages have exited the printer, follow the instructions on your computer screen.

Which means that you have to insert the paper again by hand. So I see that the printer does NOT have automatic Deplex printing. That is the reason the box will NOT remain checked.

I'm just telling you what I read. I do NOT work for Dell. I work for a local newspaper putting advertisements in the newspaper. I just help out here to help others get their problems straightened out. Gives you that great feeling inside.

This is not a valid reason to not be able to have the 2 sided printing enabled by default

All i want is to have 2 sided printing ENABLE all the time, having to select it every time i print is a BIG hassle

this looks like a bug, because it can be configure under the default printing preference, so why not !!!

OK, i solved the DELL imaging toolbox issue

It seems that the CD installer must be run from the CD in order to have the toolbox install, if you run the CD content from the network or local drive, toolbox will never be install. DELL ?! if you read this. Please redisgn the installer to fix this problem, it is not practical to create an ISO file of the CD to then run it as a virtual CD on my laptop

Will call DELL next week if no one can help regarding the other issue during the week end
