V313W All-in-One Printer

I was just gifted a V313W All-in-One printer and it has been nothing but a hassle in trying to connect it to my computer.

I was not given the disc that I assume accompanied the device and I purchased a USB cable that apparently does not come with the device at all. At first I had the printer in a room of my apartment that was far from the router, approx 15 feet. Although the WIFI light was green at the time items would not print, or if it they did it would be just a single page and would take up to an hour to reach the printer.

I could not check ink levels because there seemed to be a communication issue between the computer and printer.

Since then, I have moved the printer to the same room as the router; it now sits about 3 feet away from the router. I purchased the USB cable and uninstalled all dell drivers from my computer. In connecting the computer via USB it triggered the computer to install the proper programs for the printer. I have FINALLY been able to print documents in a reasonable amount of time; via USB connection only.

BUT problems still occur. The WIFI light now shows orange, solid orange; when it was solid green in the previous room. When going through setup on the printer it shows as though there is no WIFI signal. I would like to utilize the printer via wireless connection.

PLEASE HELP!

Incase this is important, I have an ASUS laptop that runs Windows with a Cisco/Linksys router; service currently provided by Comcast.

THANK YOU!!!

Hi dahood84,

Please follow the below steps to connect the printer wireless to the computer.

Ensure the USB cable is attached to both the printer and the computer:

  1. Go to Dell Printer Home > Settings tab > Click Wireless setup utility.
  2. The printer looks for nearby wireless networks and displays them.
  3. The Wireless Network Name Appears in the List > click on your network and click on continue >Enter the network key.
  4. The Allow Dell Software window may appear.
  5. When instructed remove the USB cable from the computer and printer.
  6. Printer is setup on network now.

The Wireless Network Name Does not appears in the List:

  1. Click Unlisted Network.
  2. Enter the Network Name, and then click Continue.
  3. Select the type of Network Security the wireless router has, then click Continue, then enter the network key.
  4. The Allow Dell Software window may appear.
  5. When instructed remove the USB cable from the computer and printer
  6. Printer is setup on network now.

In case the above is not working. We could attempt the WPS setup Provided router is WPS Complaint (WPS complaint router will have Setup logo on it)

  1. On the Printer Operator Panel go to ->Set up--Network Set up--WPS--Push Method or Pin Method
  2. Please select the Pin Method, an 8- 10 digits Number will be listed under the PIN method.
  3. We need to enter the WPS PIN on the router security page (under WPS option)
  4. Click on the WiFi Icon for the Printer Setup over wireless network and the printer will get connected on WiFi network.

Please try the above steps and reply.
