I have Microsoft XP Home Edition Works. I'm a teacher that just started graduate school. Now I need Power Point but Works does not have it. Can I just add the Office Teachers/Students addition to my system without taking off the Works Edition? Or is there a better way to add PowerPoint to Works?
Thanks. I am creating a lot of presentations for my grad classes.
To keep it simple, I would remove Works and install the Office Version you have available.
However, if you want you can do a Custom install of Office and only install the PP portion.
Works is not Office so you can't add PP to it, but it does have Word. If you do a custom install of Office with PP or just PP, make sure you do not accept the default folder for the installation. It will corrupt the MS Office folder that has Word. I would do as Jim says, uninstall Works and Word--you must uninstall these separately--and install Office instead. You won't need Works if you have Office. And it will work better. Here's a bonus, too--the student and teacher edition can be installed on up to 3 of your family's computers.

Check with your graduate school first. My son's school offers Office Pro for $45 to the students. Your school may have a similar deal. While Office for Students and Teachers Edition (sp :smileywink:) can be put on three computers, it lacks Access and Publisher. Also, if you don't have 3 computers and can get a similar deal as the $45, you'd be spending a lot less money overall.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll ask our computer person at school tomorrow about getting Microsoft Office at a reduced rate for teachers/students. I'll take off Works and Word and add it to my computer. Thanks again!
