If you have two copies of Word on your computer (one in Office, one in Works) they may be conflicting. Try reinstalling Office using a custom installation and install all of the applications except Word and the error should no longer occur.
Thanks! I only have word in Office (I mainly put that in just because it's telling me that whatever's messing with my Office programs isn't also messing with my works programs) But I'll try reinstalling anyway, since that ought to help. I'm mainly worried that it might be something outside messing with it (which is why I haven't already reinstalled it), but it didn't sound as if you thought it might be so I guess I might as well try to reinstall. Thanks again!

since the message always relates to winword it could be a problem with normal.dot being corrupted.
try renaming this file to oldnormal.dot while all office programs are closed. After it is renamed try opening it again.
it is a hidden file so if you do a search for it make sure in advanced option you choose search hidden files and folders
That couldn't be it, since it worked properly for half a year, decided not to open anything, was fixed, worked well for a few more months, and now won't work at all. (I'm working on reinstalling it now, so if that'll help I'll get to see in an hour or so)
