All my sounds are messed up

Since I put in Dell Media Experience and then took it off again, all my system sounds are messed up.  The only one that plays is with Windows Explorer Start Navigation sound (which is really annoying so I have turned it off).  I can play CDs, listen to the radio, play any wav by double clicking it but I really would like to get woken up when email arrives.  I can live without the rest of the sounds.

johnmnz,

* Click Start- (All) Programs- Creative- Sound Blaster Live!- Restore Defaults
* Click Yes
* Wait up to 5 minutes, could be less
* Click Ok to restart the system if asked
* Click Start- (All) Programs- Creative- Sound Blaster Live!- Diagnostics,
What are the results?

Hi, Chris - I now have a totally silent PC. When I set my settings back to default, the CD I was playing off my hard drive went silent and I have had no sound since. I waited 15 minutes after I'd reset sounds to default - I wasn't asked to reboot but I did anyway. I ran the Sound Blaster Live diagnostics and it told me that "Mixer Settings Check" failed. I clicked on "Begin Fix", it showed it as being fixed but still no sund. I ran the diagnostics again and got "Mixer Settings Check" showing as failed again.

OK - I went into Creative Playcenter - all my audio setting were set to mute with the volume turned right down (this was after I'd set the config back to default). I now have a CD playing merrily in Windows Media player and I can make any sound play by double clicking it in explorer. But I still get no sounds when I start up, shut down, make a mistake or get email (they're the only sounds I want though I have a number of others supposedly turned on).
