Am I missing something in Dell Support 3.0

Hope somebody can help me out here. I just got the new Dell support 3.0 and I noticed when I checked it out that it Had 4 titles I could click, Check now, Dell Support, Dell Support Help, and Support Settings. They all bring up a window pertaining to its title Except Dell Support. I do not get anything. Nada, nothing . Is this right? With Dell Support 2.0, I had access to lots of info on my computer. System Information , how to articles, etc...
Does Dell Support 3 have this ?  I have dial up , A Dim 2400 , Pent 4 2.66GHz 256 MBs of RAM running XP Home. I am not an advanced user , So Dell Support 2.0 was helpful to me. It did uninstall Dell Support 2.0 when it installed the Dell Support 3.0
So I guess I am wondering if I am missing something, does Support 3.0 have how to articles , System Info like the Dell Support 2.0 or 2.1 program did?

Malron,

I prefer 3.0 myself. NOTE, removing 2.1 isn't easy. Read my FAQ .

Thankyou for answering my post . I still have a couple of questions.
1: does Dell Support 3.0 have, How to Articles ,System Information and other Information ?
2: Or is it a trouble shooting Program ? ( I noticed it said I needed to update my CD burning software and that I had some things in msconfig that were loading at start up that were no longer relevant)
3: Should there be a window when I click Dell Support? As I stated I get window for the other listings In the Dell Support companions : Check now , Dell Support Help, and Support Settings ,but no window for Dell Support.
4: I have read that some people have both programs running will that be in conflict with each other or can they both run?
Thanks again for answering my post

I think you might be right . I looked all over Dells site trying to find some info on these qusstions I have . I Know a lot of people did not like Dell Support 2.1 . I think Dell Support 3.0 does not have things like System Information and the how to Articles Dell Support 2.1 had

On the page that describes 3.0 , it says you can find some of the information that 2.1 had online  on  the Dell Support 2.0 Page. It does have a lot of info and links. I did use the Support Tool yesterday to install a driver for my CD Burner, For some reason Sonic update would not connect to the server . I tried listing Sonic on the exceptions list in the windows firewall . But Sonic update would not connect to the Server.

Anyways thanks for replying to my post For get me not . A reply is better than nothing at all

Malron,

You should still have the "Help & Support" Utility under your Start menu.

This will give you "...access to lots of info on my computer. System Information
, how to articles, etc..."

One caution, if you (wisely) use Firefox as your default browser, open an
Internet Explorer before clicking an interactive site on "Help & Support".

Searches and downloads are still done better on Dell WebSite with Firefox.

Malron,

If you exit the Dell Support icon in your system tray and then click on the Dell Support option in Start menu All Program it will reopen Dell Support in the sys tray. Try it, you'll like it!

I'm sure if we ask for stuff, they'll put it in. The Moderator has already asked a similar question.

Thanks for answering my reply Art and dont forget me . I can not try anything right not now. not untill This weekend. ( working out of town) So I take it you get a window when you click on Dell Support . I did try going to Start/ all programs /Dell / Dell Support . I do not get anything. I get a window for the other 3 items . Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall it from the link Dell has.

Justin Tyme what would you like to see added ? Or changed, not quite sure what you meaning. I was not complaining . But I do think if Dell Support 3.0 does not have the info and System Information that Dell Support 2.1 had . I think they are missing something. I liked they way System Information listed everything, hardware and software. Oh Well.

Malron,

Click on Dell Support 3 icon pops up a small, fixed window, showing two channel buttons (Security & Maint.) and "Frequently Asked Questions" at the bottom,
a click on FAQ opens another window full of links to Dell.

In ADDITION to that and unrelated to DS3, on the Start menu (mine is top of lower right block, above 'Run' & 'Search', Dell Support2 used to be at the bottom of this block)
you will find {by (?)} "Help and Support".

Within this, you will find (in addition to Dell Online Support & Hints and tips) your computer information that I refferd to in the post above. Column on left should contain
all your system information and guides and work off-line to display that information.
