I am in the process of setting up an external drive to use to backup my files on a regular basis (learned this 4 too many times the hard way). I know to backup my folder that has all of my personal files in it such as documents, spreadsheets, pictures, etc. I also backed up my favorites folder. How do I backup Outlook 2002? Is it just a matter of copying the Outlook.pst folder onto my backup drive? If I ever have to reinstall Outlook again (or on a new computer), will that retore it so that I have the same calender, contacts, address book, folders with the same messages in them, etc.? Aslo, (this isn't regarding Outlook, but) any other suggestions on what I should backup? TIA! Sugarbearz
It backups everything BUT your email account setup. I run it nightly to my network server so I'm current each evening if I crashed, and then weekly I image my entire computer.
1. Will this work with Outlook 2002? I had tried this about a year ago and it didn't work for me. It kept stalling out slightly into the copying phase.
2. I looked for the .pst file to back up "manually" but since I've had to reinstall windows, there are now no file extensions on some of the files. In the Application Data>Microsoft>Outlook folder, there are five files: Junk Senders (text document), outcmd (a 3kb DAT file), Outlook (a 26kb FAV file), Outlook (a 45kb Office Data File), and Outlook.srs (a 3kb SRS file). I am pretty sure it's the 45kb file I'm after (just in case the download doesn't work for me).
Thanks!
Rhonda
P.S. I have my settings here to be emailed everytime someone replies to one of my threads but I never get an email! Any ideas?

1. Yes, I use it with Outlook 2002.
2. Check file properties or turn the extensions back on by going into Windows Explorer, Folder Options, View and uncheck the box that says to hide the file extensions.
Emailing is one of the frequent issues with the forum.
ahhh... ok... got the extensions working and I DL'd the software and it seems to be working as well. I think that now, for the first time EVER, I have everything I need backed up. Thanks again for all your help Rick!
