Hi allyson715,

I am sorry to know that computer crashes while playing a game and displays a graphics driver stopped responding error message.

Please reply to this message with the system model (E.g. XPS M1530) so that we can help you to install the updated drivers

You have Windows XP or Windows 7?

It seems like Windows 7 64 bit and Windows Vista 64 bit are the only official Operating Systems supported.

See the ftp website for details. Some of the drivers are XP compatible but you will need to get one or two elsewhere.

First ensure that you install Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer 9 before the drivers. Likely your installation media already has these. Check before proceeding however. You may check by right clicking computer and selecting properties or alternatively pressing the [Windows] and [Pause|Break] keys together. The screen will mention Service Pack 1 if installed (See Step 12 A Clean Install of Windows 7, 1st screen).

Use another computer and download the following onto a USB flash drive:

1. Dell System Software R260746.exe

2. Intel Mobile Chipset R255577.exe

3. Intel Management Engine Interface R285030.exe

4. Realtek RTS5138 Card Reader R255854.exe

5. Intel Rapid Storage Technology R263958.exe

6. Intel Turbo Boost Technology Driver R255588.exe

7. Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor Software R257983.exe

8. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator R2668991.exe :emotion-30:

8. AMD Radeon HD R297612.exe :emotion-30:

10. Realtek ALC269/272 Audio R272187.exe

11. Atheros AR8152 Fast Ethernet Controller R255590.exe

12. Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 R278714.exe [Variant A***]

13. Dell Bluetooth 365 R273580.exe [****]

14. Synaptics Touchpad R255591.exe

15. Dell Quickset R253976.exe

16. Dell Support Centre [*****]

17. My Dell Downloads [******]

18. BIOS A11 [*******]

* Graphics attempt to install both Intel first than ATI. You may need both if you have switchable graphics, if one fails to install as it doesn't detect the hardware then it doesn't apply to your model.

** Modems are becoming obsolete, not all systems will be shipped with a modem, if the driver fails to install forget the diagnostics, application and utility - it won't apply to your system.

*** There are 3 variants for the wireless cards, differing on place region and customisation of the system. If you don't know what one you have try installing them all. If the installers fail then you don't have that card so move onto the next wireless driver.

**** Not all systems came with a bluetooth card, try to install it, if it fails to detect a card (try tapping Fn and F2, if it still doesn't detect a card than you don't have one).

***** Dell Support Centre is optional, you may or not want it.

****** You may register your system with My Dell Downloads to get preinstalled software such as Dell Stage, Dell Webcam Software. Not all systems have this but generally systems that came with Windows 7 do. (See Step 14 A Clean Install of Windows 7)

******* Check what BIOS version you have. Be cautious when updating the BIOS (See Step 17 A Clean Install of Windows 7).

Once downloaded insert into your system and install in order.

Note when installing the drivers ensure that they install and not just only extract (See Step 10 A Clean Install of Windows 7). Once all the drivers are installed check the device manager and refresh the Windows Experience Index Rating (See Step 12 A Clean Install of Windows 7).

After you have all the drivers installed ensure that you install adequate security software. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free antivirus software from Microsoft and is recommended. Malwarebytes' Antimalware (Free or Pro version) is a good supplement.
