Crashes in Office XP

Question

Greetings from the UK.   I am the IT bod for a company that has a Dell Latitude D505 running on Windows XP Pro (2002) with service pack 2 installed.   We have installed Office Pro Premium (don't ask, I didn't think there was one either but there you go!) but when we open a Word document, we get about 1 to one and a half minutes of work when an error dialogue box pops up telling us that Word has encountered a problem and needs to close down.  We've been through the Send an error report to Microsoft but that comes back with there is no fix and we don't support the product except for security issues.    We've uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled Office and has made no difference whatsoever.   Anybody any ideas?   Thanks   Roy

Tried that ....no joy.  Also, same thing happens in Excell when we try to change a cell's font.  Very strange.  At the moment, I've left the thing de-fragging so that in the morning I can do a Custom reinstall of just Word, Excell and Outlook from the Office Suite.

IOW-IT-NINJA, Word problems that are not cured by reinstallation are normally due to a corrupted normal template. Try the fix here and see if the prolem is resolved.
