Dell Backup and Recovery Problems
Hello
I am using Dell Backup and Recovery with my xps15 and i have some problems that i cannot find a solution.
In details;
1) I am not able to change the backup Location of the system backup to a USD drive. The usb drive is Rescue Disk and has been checked as Location for system backup. This procedure was completed fine and the old system backups have been moved to it.Here the problem; when i try to do a system backup then i have the error message "Location missing".Even if i try to select again the usb disk and select the option to create a New full system backup the error meggage is the same.It seems that accepts only the internal disk as a system backup Location.
2) how i can merge or delete old Data backup? My external disk is nearly full.I found the option to delete -merge System backups but not for Data backups.Do i have to delete the folders by myself from the file system and is this safe?
3) Can i use a virtual dvd/bluray like phantomburner to send there the archived system backups? My xps 15 hasnt any media of this kind and i want to have a second copy of backups.
Could be you please help ?
Thanks
Vangelis
PS. My laptop is an XPS15 9530 with win 8.1 and premium DBAR with the latest updates.

Hi
One month passed and no one answer any of my question. In the meantime I tried to archive data to virtual dvd as I wrote above.
The result ; phantomburner was not recognized as a drive and another program ( I don't remember which) caused a serious system problem ,laptop could not start and I forced to do a system recover.
So don't try something similar.
In any case ,my other questions remain.
Do anyone know how to get information for DBAR?

I also have the same, seems to be a common issue? I am using a brand new WD My Paspport Ultra 1TB. Has anyone managed to find a resolution to this. Bit annoying as have paid for this premium service.

I am using the exact same exteenal hard disk and have the same issue. Maybe its a compatibility problwm. I dobt have another hard disk i could use to test.
Is it possible for you to try it with a different hard disk?

Hello
I am using a WD MyPassport 640 , a rather old disk.
So the only relation I can figure out from our cases , is that there is a compatibility issue with WD's MyPassport disks.
I was planning to change this disk with a new one ,a new WD but now I am reconsidering it.

Hello
I think I found the problem , its the Western Digital disks !
Some days before the disk I used to store the backup (a WD passport) dropped and became useless.
So I decide to get a new one , but thinking the posts here , seems the common thing we had was the same disk brand ,so I got a Seagate.
The problem solved , I can store system backups there etc.
The question for the data backup still exists, how I can delete or merge old data backups ?
Is it safe to delete a folder of a specific date or I will destroy the whole backup chain?
Regards
