Dell DataSafe Local BackUp Premium Exception Error
Hi,
I have an Inspiron N7110 (3 months old) which I now have in a position ready for a full system backup (i.e. with all my applications etc). I upgraded to the Premium Version (V 9.4.60) of the software to be able to do so (at a cost of £31 GBP).
However as soon as I get past the screen asking for a choice of Manual or Automatic Backup, a dialogue box opens which states:
"An unhandled exception has occurred", "Application will exit"
That's it. No error log or explanation and I have paid for something that I cannot use for the task it was purchased. I have spent ages searching the Dell support site and forums and the closest answer I can find dates back to issues with Vista & Win7 upgrades.
I either need the software to work as advertised or I will need a refund.
Regards
Keith Wright

Hi K.Wright,
I suggest that you first create the recovery CDs. Then completely uninstall the ‘Data safe Local Backup’ from the system. To uninstall, click ‘Start’> ‘Control Panel’’ > ‘Program and Feature’ and uninstall Data safe Local Backup. Restart the system and install the software once again from the link given below:

Please reply to this post for further assistance.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi,
I have done as you have suggested which has updated the software to V9.4.67. Now, when I go from the scheduling screen I am faced with the following error:
QTool Lite Command Line Mode
"/Capture parameter must be an existing path string"
This is followed by the unhandled exception error and application will exit dialogue as previously described, upon which the application closes.
Please note the files and folders backup works, it is the full system backup process that is causing the error.

Hi K.Wright,
I am researching on this issue. I will post once I get further information. I also request you to send a private message with the service tag of the system to check the system specification .
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

I have tried to message you the service tag but the messaging system does not appear to be working i.e. I can start the conversation and submit it but then it never shows as being sent or the activity being recorded. I also don't have a PM from you either. I shall try again later.
