Just got the Studio 1749 as well and never got the World Map from initial install. I downloaded the free Microsoft Touch Pack which has a few multi-touch applications: map (Surface Globe), screen saver, photo collage and a few games. These are good replacement of the missing apps from Dell until someone tells us how to reinstall the World Map application.
Same happened to me. I really missed the drum set and that cool globe application, which seemed to now just opens my browser.
EXCEPT, that upon further investigation, I discovered that nothing was missing after all:
What had happened is that I had elected to change the display to a flat bar instead of the "round" arc. The arc displays more icons and visually implies that you may drag your finger across the arc to rotate it, showing other icons.
Well, the same thing works with the flat bar display, but the visual cue isn't there to suggest that you drag the icons side to side to show others. Give it a try, and in particular, watch for the drum set icon and the toy box icon. In the latter you will find the Microsoft Surface Map icon, which is what we thought we remembered as the globe icon which opens the Internet. Oops.
Now, drag your way to the icon on the far right. That's "settings," and you can use it to display the icons as an arc again.
Or, you, like I, could just try to remember how the darn thing works in the first place, which we didn't do last time.
Thanks soooo much! I spent over an hour trying to figure where to change the shape of the lobby after it seemed to change shape by itself. I thought I had lost my mind!

Thank you for replying to this question. I am a little disappointed that Dell still haven't come back to me with this query though:emotion-6:
I have downloaded the Microsoft Touch pack, which is quite good, so thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Kind regards
