Dell Update Stuck at 10% - in conflict with Support Assist?
Many people have reported this problem with various solutions on other threads that have not worked for me. The only thing that has worked for me:
1. uninstalling Dell Update AND Support Assist
2. reinstalling Dell Update
3. Successfully running Dell Update
However, when I reinstall Support Assist, Dell Update stops working. It gets stuck again at 10%. It shouldn't be one or the other. These applications should work in tandem, right? Or are they duplicative? I think both are helpful.

Has anyone with this problem tried to get in contact with Dell directly? I assume they're supposed to be watching this board, but I don't see anyone from Dell jumping in on the conversation.
I'm going to go for a walk, coof off, and then try the uninstall, etc. process.
Thanks for posting and giving me a possible solution.

I spent about two hours on the phone with Dell Support on Monday night. They remotely connected to my machine and tried installing, reinstalling Dell Update, updating the Bios, etc - everything I'd already done.
After all of that, they basically told me that Dell Update is buggy and I should solely depend on Support Assist for notification regarding drivers and downloads updates.
I'm pretty sure the agent I spoke with simply did not have an answer as to why Dell Update was stalling.

Good luck. Please let me know if you find a solution. I haven't been able to replicate what I talked about at the beginning of this thread. I don't really believe they should be in conflict with each other.

Thanks for saving me the two hours. Now, I'll go uninstall them both, reinstall Update, run the update and then get on with solving another problem that alerted me to this issue.

Hi Muhlyssa:
I'm having the same problem on my Dell Inspiron 15 5584. When I try to check for available updates:
On Tuesday (10-Nov-2020) Dell employee NikhilKiroula posted in the Dell SupportAssist thread Driver Detection Not Available that "This is know issue due to some infrastructure which is going to be fix with upcoming release". A few users in that thread reported an uninstall and reinstall of Dell SupportAssist fixed the "An unexpected error occurred" problem with that program but I haven't tried that workaround yet.
I also noticed that a new Dell Update v4.0.0 was posted 09-Nov-2020 <here> on the support page for my Inspiron 5584, but if this problem is caused by a glitch with Dell's remote update servers then I don't see how a manual update to Dell Update v4.0.0 will solve my problem. For now I'm just monitoring Driver Detection Not Available and waiting to see if someone from Dell provides further guidance.

Thank you for alerting me to the availability of the new version of Dell Update (4.0.0). I've just successfully installed and run the updated application and Support Assist ran fine too. I wasn't having any issues with Support Assist, so your issue isn't exactly what I was experiencing. I hope your issue is resolved soon.
