Dell website can't detect 'Current System Configuration' after 3.0???
I'm not sure if these items are related (and neither is Dell Support), but .......
Today, my PC was upgraded to Support 3.0. Coincidentally, today, I am no longer able to use the Dell website to check my "Current System Configuration" using my Service Tag number. I explained my situation to the Dell Support Rep and they told me to just get the Config from my own system. But isn't 3.0 supposed to 'read' your system to suggest updates, support, etc? If it can't read my PC, how can it do that?? After bringing this point up to the rep, he then suggested that I take the following steps........
-Uninstall Support 3.0 using add/remove programs
-Reinstall the original Dell Support program which came w/my PC (from the original PC discs)
-Go to the Dell Website and upgrade to (reinstall) 3.0
Before I do anything, I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem? The Rep sounded a bit shakey when giving this advise (I'm not sure why, because they always tell you to uninstall & reinstall).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx-

before, since install of Support 3, so perhaps it's broke:)

Does not matter as I would rather have Support 3 and won't bother fooling with reinstalling
older versions and trying to upgrade it.
I also know quite well what the "System Configuration" is.

EDIT: Now I see it, it's the Firefox Browser! that keeps it from working,
bet if I went back with IE6 it would communicate again.

I clicked "Display" and it opened an Internet Explorer Browser to
connect with Dell Support.
At that moment a Norton Antivirus Alert popped up to tell me that
it had just blocked the "ICKiller Trojan horse", this is one
reason I prefer Firefox as my Default Browser.
Dell's Check-Up found all to be Ok. Since Internet Explorer 6
was already open, I went to the Dell 'Current System Configuration'
and it had no problem doing it using IE6. :)

You may have gotten this fixed by now but I thought I'd pass this on. I had the same problem after upgrading to 3.0. I had access to another dell PC which worked fine. From the other PC I copied the System Profiler folder which is in the Dell program file folder and I pasted it to my PCs Dell program folder. It works fine now. The file contained in the folder is "WMIInput.xml".
