Device validation command failed with error message:The update agent returned invalid XML

i get this message when i try to push an update to a 2850. this is what i have.
server administrator 6.1 installed on the 2850. a domain controller
it assistant 8.5 installed on another server.
i have removed the 2850 from ITA, readded it back in.. i have removed server admin from the 2850 and reinstalled it. Checked passwords and snmp community names so that they are the same.. everything. Still have this problem.
i have this happening on 2 servers. all other servers are fine.. anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening ?
