Error 1305 when installing MS Office 2000.

Every time I try to install Microsoft Office 2000 I get the following error message:

Error 1305. Error reading from file:
E:\PFiles\MSOffice\Office\VTIPRES.EXE. Verify that the files exists and that you can access it.

Anybody know what this means and how to fix it so I can install MS Office 2000?

It sounds like you have a scratch or dirt on the CD around where the file is.

You can clean the CD with a clean *soft* lint-free cloth and luke warm (not hot) water. Ensure that the CD is dry before inserting it. Do NOT use paper to clean or dry it.

If this does not work, time to escalate to level 2. Use a propietory CD cleaner or a glass cleaner with a piece of the clean, lint free cloth.

If that does not work, we're at level 3! Obtain a good quality car polish. One that has no abrasives in it at all. Using clean lint free cloth apply a small amount and cover the disc. Now polish it off with the clean cloth.

If you have to use 2 or 3, after you have installed Office, it is time to copy the whole CD to a new one as a backup
