Excel-Windows Installer error
After installing updates from Microsoft the following problem is now occuring When trying to open Excel the following problem occurs the windows installer
window flashes on then another box opens and reads "an error occured and this
feature is no longer functioning properly would you lke to repair this
feature now yes or no" on clicking yes the installer screen flashes on again
and then another box appears and reads " Microsoft excel cannot install the
necessary files due to windows installer error 1635 this patch package could
not be opened verify that the package exists and that you can access it or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows
installer package" Sorry for the length of this post but I do not have a
clue on how to solve this problem any answers would be greatly apreciated I
am using XP pro and Office basic 2003

You'll need your Office CD. And you may have to reinstall the recent updates for Excel afterwards.
