Format Prolems when I Copy and Paste
I am trying to copy and paste text from a file that I created in outline mode to a file that is not in outline mode. When I paste the text from the outline document into the non-ouline document, the format gets bizarre. Some of the text is centered on the page when it shouldn't be; other text is in bold when it should not be, etc. etc.
Is there a way to paste text created in outline mode into another document and still maintain the outline appearance?

Copying and pasting from one document to another can be a challenge. Each document may have certain styles in use that can affect the paste. If you have Word XP or 2003, you should see a smart tag appear when you paste, allowing you some choices. You may want to select the "Match destination formatting" after you've pasted your text and see if that solves your problem.
Outline view is tricky, as it is just that - an outline "view." There are levels, promotions, demotions, etc. that will affect the look of your document when switching to Print Layout view.
Practice with different methods, and I'm sure you'll come up with something that works. Also, if you're not using styles in Word, take some time to learn about them. Styles are the center of every Word document.
