HELP ME with MS Works
I am writing some Bible studies but have run into a problem. I want to add the names of some scripture verses down the left margin. Can you tell me how to do this? I am very new at this program so please be very explicit with your instructions. Thank you very much Linda

LInda,
Are you using Microsoft Word (part of Works) to do this? You can tell by opening the Works program and looking at the top of your screen. If it is Word, you'll see Microsoft Word Document1 or something similar.

Since you are new to this, I've placed the file on my website, available for download. Just click here and then choose save when prompted. Save the file to your computer (My Documents or Desktop). Find the file, double-click it, and it will open in Word. While in Word, choose File, Open, and open the file that you are using for your scripture document. When this opens, press CTRL-A to select the entire document, then choose Edit, Copy from the menu in Word. Click Window in the Word menu, and choose the BibleMargin document. Make certain your insertion point is not in the table cell, but in the body of the document. Click Edit, Paste and your document will appear. On the left (in the margin) is a table. If you don't see gray lines, choose Table, Show Gridlines. In order to insert a verse reference, just click in any cell and type. If you need to go down in the document, pressing your tab key will add additional rows.
Now, how does it work? First, I changed the Gutter, under File, Page Setup, to .6 inches. I then inserted a table (Table, Insert) with one column and about 4 rows. I then had to change the layout of the table by changing the text wrapping property to Around. I then resized the width of the table to fit into the gutter. This is more than a simple task, so the sample is better than trying to accomplish this yourself. Hope it helps with your biblical writings!
The verse references are taken directly from a program called Logos (www.logos.com) It is by far the best Bible software available.
